BRIEF HISTORY
Year Established: 11TH DECEMBER, 1986
Location: The city of ODOMASE, which serves as the district capital of Sunyani West, is where the school can be found. The Brong-Ahafo Region’s capital city of Sunyani is about a ten-minute drive away from here.
This venerable organisation was the inspiration of the late Mr. Joseph Kwabena Duah, who sadly passed away before its founding. The plan was to set up a secondary school in Odomase so that it could accommodate all of the students who had completed their primary education in Odomase and the surrounding area. The late Mr. Joseph Duah was successful in selling the concept to both of Odomase’s Traditional Councils. The councils recognised the value of the concept and collaborated to gather the necessary resources, both material and financial, to get the school off the ground.
In collaboration with Nana Kwame Baah Bentuo, a linguist and educationist, they sought advice from Mr. Aggrey Forson, who served as the Regional Officer in charge of higher institutions at the time. Mr. Aggrey Forson was eventually able to assist with the launch of the community school, which was staffed by National Service people who had been assigned to teach there by the Regional Education Directorate. Nana Kwame Baah Bentuo was assigned the role of coordinator for the event. On November 8th, 1985, the school was informally launched with Nana Kwame Asante Krobea III, also known as Mr. M. A. Brenya in his private life, serving as the Acting Headmaster. Nana Kwame Asante Krobea III performed this duty free of charge. The first person to hold the position of chairman of the Board of Governors was Nana Kwabena Ameyaw. The school’s doors officially opened for business on December 11th, 1986. By erecting classroom buildings and a computer laboratory, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), which plays an important part in the development of the school, has contributed significantly to its growth.
Important Dates: On 5th November 2005 the School held its 20th Anniversary and the maiden speech and Prize Giving Day. This occasion was grace by H. E the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
Status: The school started as a Community Day school with Hostel facilities.
